Hi! I hope everyone had a happy holiday, and that everyone has an even better new year.
First off, here‘s a piece I wrote for the Billfold that went up back in November. I had a lot of fun writing it– I’m an AmEx customer but it’s also been a bit of a hobby of mine to watch old AmEx commercials and look at old ads.
I only really got started writing this year, but it’s still been really fun.
Here‘s the one that started it all. I love writing for Wellesley Underground, and I did it a lot this year– my tag is here. I was recently named a contributor of WU, so look out for more things from me in the new year!
It was such an honor writing for the Toast. This was an intensely personal piece, and I loved all the support I got. Thank you all so much!
The Billfold has also been incredibly great. Aside from the AmEx piece, this was awesome to write, simply because I got to talk about the trip to LA that I took this summer. Hopefully I can write about it again!
I have a few pieces that I’m working on/retooling, and the plan is to get them up here or elsewhere. Either way, you’ll definitely be hearing from me!
I co-wrote a review for Wellesley Underground, a blog I occasionally contribute to. You can read it here.
I’ve still had some life stuff going on, but I have more writing coming up soon! I plan to get into it more, so watch this space.
Sorry I’ve been so bad with this. Summer really just came and went, and I am currently in the process of packing and moving– within New York City, but it’s still very stressful.
I’ve still been writing, albeit slowly, and a piece of mine went up on The Billfold yesterday! You can read it here.
I’ll get around to maybe writing in this more when/if things calm down. In the meantime, I’m somewhat active on my Tumblr still, and I have a few pieces in the works– I’ll definitely post here if they go up!
…but I got published in the Toast last week! You can read it here. Writing it and seeing it get published and all the reactions to it have been an adventure. Thank you all for all your support!
And for those who are discovering this blog through that, welcome! I know I’m not a particularly prolific poster as of yet, but hopefully that will change! I plan to continue with the alphabet series as well as write some book reviews for Wellesley Underground at some point. I’m also going to be going to LA next month so hopefully I’ll get some inspiration there for other pieces.
I’m starting this feature wherein I write various essays based off of a words starting with any letter of the alphabet. Clearly, I won’t be going in alphabetical order– rather, it will be just whatever word/letter strikes me at a given moment. I’m also thinking I might do three or four words per letter, and that these essays could be a little more informal and off-the-cuff than what I usually write and publish on here. This could be a long project, and at the present time it’s also not very well thought out. But for this, especially since I’ve had some weird dreams lately, I figured I’d start with the letter “D.” So, here you go.
I just wanted to alert you all to two other blogs that I have:
anniedurian.tumblr.com– my general Tumblr, where I reblog various things. Right now, I’m really into reblogging Chris Evans gifsets and photos, as well as various neurodivergent activist stuff, but it does vary. I’ve been busy at work and trying to rewatch Orange is the New Black and so am avoiding season 3 spoilers, and so I haven’t been on so much lately, but that may change.
deadpooldoesthings.tumblr.com– Wherein I take my Deadpool Funko plushie to do various activities. As of now he has eaten chimichangas at Baby Bo’s Cantina, gone to the beach, and done chores, among other things. I can’t take him everywhere with me, so I’m not currently sure how frequent these pictures will be, but there will be more to come, including a trip to LA!
And that’s that for now. Please follow if you can!
I’ve always felt a kinship with the planet Pluto, and recently I wrote an open letter to it in preparation for the New Horizons fly-by which, as I understand it, has already happened. I submitted it to a couple of online publications and both passed on it. So, I’m posting it here.
